- No refunds will be processed after 3pm on the last day for refunds listed above.
- **The last day to withdraw from a high school summer school course will be by 3:00 pm on the withdrawal date, without it appearing on your official transcript. Please email Aspire registrars to request withdrawal. The email must include the student's name and the course. There will be no refunds for withdrawals after the refund date.
Steps to Register for Summer Classes
- Students must meet with their High School counselor to sign-up for Aspire Summer School Classes.
- Counselor's will register students, and direct them to pay for their Summer School classes through In-Touch.
- Click here to open InTouch payment portal.
- Use Student Novell username and password to log in.
- Students MUST be registered by their counselor BEFORE paying for Summer School classes. Any payments made WITHOUT counselor approval will be refunded and students will not be placed in the summer class.
- Payment is due prior to summer classes starting. If payment is not recieved, students will not be placed in summer classes. Aspire registrars will attempt to reach out to students/parents prior to summer session starting if payment is missing.
- There are TWO Summer Sessions offered this year. Session 2 has a limited amount of classes being offered.
Once Signed up..
- Once payment has been recieved and updated, our registrars will send out a "Welcome" email during the week Summer Classes begin.
- New to District students will receive their log-in credentials via email.
- Make sure to check your Spam folders for emails from Aspire Registrars.

What is the format of Aspire's Summer School Classes?
- Aspire Summer School classes are completely asynchronous, with students completing DVUSD curriculum in a structured environment.

Can students take more than one summer class during a session?
- Students can take up to TWO high-school summer school classes with Aspire per session.
- Remember that summer classes are .5 credit, so if students need a 1.0 credit, they would need to take 2 summer classes.
- Some classes cannot be offered concurrently (for example, taking Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 at the same time during the summer would not be an option.)

Which high school classes can my incoming ninth-grader take?
- PE & Health ONLY with high school counselor approval.
- Students taking Fitness Center: You cannot be away from your device longer than 2 days, due to dated workout requirements.

Do students need their own computers and internet access?

Students can use their DVUSD-issued Chromebooks to complete summer work, or their own device, if desired.

My student is an incoming Freshman, and does not have a DVUSD Chromebook. How do they get one?

Incoming Freshmen can use their own personal device or contact Aspire at 623-445-4992 for information on potentially borrowing a device.

It is recommended that students use a computer or laptop to complete their summer school classes, not a phone or tablet, as some programs function properly on those devices.

What is the time commitment for Aspire Summer School classes?
- Students should expect to spend about 23 hours per week per class on Summer School classes with Aspire.
- Remember that students are completing a typical semester-long (18-week) course in just 5 weeks, with the End of Course Exam being the 5th week.

We have vacations planned during the Summer. Can students work ahead?

Students can work ahead in their summer classes. However, due dates cannot be shifted to accommodate travel. Students and Parents/families should review the summer school dates to ensure all content is completed on time.

Please note: Some DVUSD networks/websites do NOT work overseas. Check with your school counselor OR Aspire Registrars AHEAD OF TIME if you are planning for students to complete Summer work while abroad.

Can students turn in work late during the Summer Session?

Summer School classes do have weekly due dates that students need to follow. There will be a CLOSE DATE for assignments about halfway through the summer session, and assignments from designated modules may not be accepted after that date. How are grades reported in the summer?
- Powerschools is turned off for the summer session for student/parent view. Parents and students can check their summer school grades throughout the term on Canvas. Official summer grades will be recorded in PowerSchool and will be viewable once the new school year starts.
- If you have questions regarding your current grade during a summer session, check Canvas or message your summer school teacher.

I signed up for Summer Classes. When will I hear from my teacher?

Once you have registered for summer classes and paid through the Online payment portal (InTouch), you can reach out to your school's counselor to confirm your enrollment.

A general welcome email will be sent a few days before classes begin.

Students will be able to access their Aspire High School Summer School class through Canvas on the first day of the Summer Session at 9AM.

Once classes begin, teachers will send a Welcome E-mail home during the first week of Summer Classes.

My student needs help with assignments. Are teachers available for help during the summer?
- Yes! Teachers hold Weekly Open Office Hours (via Zoom) during the summer that students can attend if they have questions or need additional support.
- Students can also message their teacher via Canvas to request a meeting for help or support!

I want to withdraw from an Aspire Summer School course. Will it affect my student's GPA or transcript?

Students MUST withdraw from a Summer School course by the designated date to avoid any grade being reported on their official transcripts. After the designated date, students are unable to withdraw from the course.

Refunds are given until the designated date. See "Registration Dates" above for the last day to recieve a refund for an Aspire Summer School class.

Out-of-District Summer School Information
Students who live out-of-District (DVUSD) are eligible to complete Summer School classes with Aspire and earn credit!
- For information or to register, contact Aspire Registrars directly by emailing or calling 623-445-4993.
- Once registered and payment has been received, Out-of-District students will be emailed with their log-in credentials.
- Materials are provided such as Chormebooks/chargers, however, students must have internet access.
- Students/Parents are responsible for checking with their institution to confirm transfer of DVUSD credits.
Tech Help
- Aspire Online Academy uses Canvas as its Learning Management System (LMS).
- Students can log in to Canvas using their Novell Usernames/Passwords by visiting start.dvusd.org.
- If new to DVUSD, login credentials will be emailed a few days prior to the Summer term starting.

- Students should log in to Canvas through a Chrome Browser.
- It is NOT recommended that students use the Canvas App.
