WELCOME TO PAINTING WITH MR. LOHMEIER
Please click on the Course Introduction Video to get a glimpse into the course.
Students will build upon what they learned in Introduction to Art and apply it to painting. Students will learn about color, color theory, and begin exploring painting with an emphasis on Abstract and Realism.
Painting 1 and Painting 2 Supply List
Paint
Students are recommended to purchase Acrylic Paints. If the studen is all ready using Oil paints safely and currently has them, that is great and they may use them, but Acrylic Paint are safer and easier to learn with so they are recommended.
Colors
Required Colors
Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Ailzarin Crimson, Ultra Marine Blue, Burnt Siena, Ivory Black and Titanium White
Additional Optional Colors
Cadmium Orange, Lemon Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Viridian Green, and a purple
Canvas
I recommend the canvas boards. They don't get damaged as easly as the stretched canvas on stretcher bars, but either will work.
Four 8x10 Canvs Panels or Stretched Canvas
Water Cup
Small plastic cup used for water to thin and clean acrylics
Pallette
A plastic pallette with a smooth area for mixing paints.
Paint Brushes
A variety of flat and round brushes in different sizes. Mr. Lohmeier's favorite sizes are
Size 2/0 0, 2, 4 and 6
Rag
Always nice to have a wet rag in case of spills or wiping away wet acrylic. Acryic can be wiped up right away and avoid a big mess. Once dry, it does not like to come off.
