Language Arts

• All Aspire Language Arts courses follow the Arizona Common Core State Standards.

• Aspire courses use Board/District adopted curriculum and resources.
• All materials/resources needed for the class can be found within Canvas.

An honors-level English Language Arts (ELA) course is a rigorous program designed for motivated students seeking to enhance their reading, writing, and analytical skills. It includes in-depth novel studies and challenges students with higher-level activities, such as critical analysis, advanced writing tasks, and creative projects. The course emphasizes deep engagement with literature and language, encouraging students to think critically, make connections, and strengthen their communication skills.

• Aspire offers Honors classes for Freshman and Sophmore Language Arts. 
• To be enrolled in an Honors course, students should have previously taken honors classes at the middle school level, or recieve a recommendation from their previous teacher. 
• Reach out to our counselor for more information regarding enrollment in Honors courses. 

Advanced Placement (AP) classes are college-level courses offered in high school, designed to challenge students with rigorous academic material and prepare them for higher education. AP courses allow students to earn college credit or advanced placement in college if they score well on the AP exams. Taking AP classes helps students build critical thinking and time management skills, enhance their college applications, and potentially save money on college tuition by reducing the number of courses needed after high school.

Classes Available: 

• AP Literature & Composition (12th Grade) 

• AP Language & Composition (11th Grade) 

Students in AP Courses have the option to complete the Advanced Placement Exam for the class, usually given in the Spring Semester. Students will need to attend in-person on the determined date in order to complete the exam. 

Aspire Online Academy offers courses for students which can earn them college credits along with high school credits. Enrolled students must pay tuition to Rio Salado Community College.  These courses give the students a great convenience of fulfilling their graduation requirements while at the same time earning post-secondary credits and/or placement. Some student do complete the AGEC while in high school. Below you will find helpful resources to assist you with the registration process.
